Learn more about me and my inspiration to lead the shift for AI in education.
About

Hi, I’m Ashley Evans — a tenured professor and prior Program Chair of Software Development & Cloud Computing. I help colleges and learning institutions to design AI teaching & assessment strategies that are rigorous and student-driven.
I'm excited by the challenges of AI in education - and how educators can respond by creating practical, hands-on learning experiences that help students navigate our rapidly changing, AI-infused educational landscape.
Background
I started in the engineering industry—embedded systems, software quality, and reliability—for companies like General Motors, Siemens Energy, and Lockheed Martin. That hands-on foundation shapes how I design curriculum, mentor faculty, and develop future software developers and computer engineers.

Leadership
I lead initiatives that integrate cloud technologies and AI into technical education while championing equitable, student-centered learning. I author curricula across software development & cloud computing courses, and teach both AI-inclusive and AI-resistant strategies that are practical and classroom-ready.
Scholarship & Press
At UCF's 2025 "Teaching and Learning with AI" Conference, I presented Designing Assignments That AI Can't Solve. The session became the most-attended of the event and sparked wider discussion across higher-ed. My work has been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education and Active Learning in Political Science.
Let’s collaborate
I’m booking speaking engagements and faculty workshops for the 2025–2026 academic year. If your institution is exploring AI-integrated teaching or designing AI-resistant assignments, I’d love to help.
